Big meet in May

I am really looking forward to going. I am not a party animal and prefer quiet gathering but I feel quite excited at the prospect of meeting all these other twin mums. We “know” each other through the twinsclub website, but apart from few exceptions, do not know each other.

The Fun and trivia forum is getting cluttered by posts about the meet. I know it can be cumbersome for most but it is also important.

We do have to organise ourselves. What time to meet, how to get there, who to come with, what to eat, what activities to plan.

We were going to be 50. Due to many different reasons, all valid, we are now standing at 30 or so.

My husband says that I am like a child before Christmas. I can’t wait. All those months I have been so good.

My children know all about the big meet. They know where it is, when it is, who is going. They keep up to date. I suspect that now they know there is no internet connection where we are going they are planning on borrowing my laptop (out of bound).

I know that some people are apprehensive. Imagine going to meet 30 other people that you have never met. My lovely husband was reassured when I told him that I was not going alone. I also have to keep my phone on at all time. I felt like a child going to her first over night party as he was telling me how mad I was for going to meet strangers in the middle of nowhere.

He is also concerned that I might not like the week-end away. Who he is kidding? Two days without having to be mummy, it will be nice. I am sure that the children will come up a lot. I am very proud of them. I can bore anybody with stories about them. But I will be able to have a conversation without having to look like an ostrich. I will be able to concentrate on what the others are saying.

Another one of his concern is: will I be able to sleep? Will snoring be an issue? With only 30ish people coming I am sure that I can find somewhere quiet to sleep. Anyway as a twinmum I am used to being sleep deprived. :)

Five weeks and counting. How fab is that?
