Instructions for making beaded crocodiles

To make a crocodile out of beads you will need:

Nose: 1 bead

Eyes: 2 beads

Under/tummy: 88 beads

Around: 44 beads

Inside of body and legs: 56

For big beaded crocodiles (eg pony beads) 3 metres of plastic elastic or thread

For little crocodiles: 1.5 metres of nylon thread

You can either start with the nose or the tail. I prefer to start with the nose so the following instruction will be from that endJ

For small beads, measure a full arm length of thread. I then put a extra slim sewing needle at each end.

I start with sliding the nose beads to the middle of the thread.

Then I slide the first 2 beads of the tummy on one side of the thread and secure it by threading the other needle through the beads form the other side.

It should look like this

Carry on alternating the top layer and the bottom layer until you get to the top layer with the legs on.

Do the body line as normal, then do one leg. Thread the 4 beads through, then loop the last bead and thread back to the body through the other 3 beads like so

Carry on with the normal alternate threading until the next pair of legs.

When you get to the last tail line make several knots. I tend to use superglue to secure the thread, especially when using big beads (eg pony beads).

Good luck.

PS: once you have mastered the crocodile, you can make all sorts of animals.
